The night was a clear, starry night that had just enough chill in it to see your breath. No other light was visible except the Heavenly glitter show displayed across the sky. It was so still, silent almost, as if in waiting. But waiting for what? This was just your ordinary end-of-a-long-day night. Everyone was going about their business (and busyness) of living... extraordinarily mundane. We were unaware that in a moment, the mundane would become extraordinary: the blind would see, the deaf would hear, the broken would be healed. And there, in the explosion of a moment, time divided, and the most precious gift, wrapped in skin, was born. Suddenly, creation's long-anticipated expectation became reality. The angels couldn't hold back. Not this time. This time they gathered in uncountable numbers with unimaginable excitement. They shouted to mankind. The silence of the night and the silence of desperation was shattered by spectacular praise, indescribably tangible. After all, GOD was on the scene! The King of kings had arrived! Salvation was in a manger! Don't be afraid. No, on the contrary, rejoice! This is good news. Better than good news, this is life-changing, life-giving news! A savior, YOUR savior, has come. He is Christ the LORD, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

Do you know Him? You see, this ordinary end-of-a-long-day moment could very well become your defining moment, a life-changing, life-giving moment. God of all creation had become creation. He had exchanged His perfection for our brokenness so that we could exchange our brokenness for His perfection.

And the angels shouted. Now peace is on earth, right there in a manger. Peace, wrapped as a baby. Let earth receive her King.
